I Figured It Out

Maybe... Well at the end of my last post I was asking for some advice, but I've prayed about it and I think I have made up my mind. As you know I have had a rough time getting a teaching job. I have been heart broken over this for the past year and well, the next year is looking not so good. So, I have seriously been debating whether or not I should go back to school and get my nursing degree. I just can't do this to myself year after year and Oklahoma's budget doesn't look like it's going to get any better. BUT I decided against this. I really feel called to teaching. Teaching reading specifically. I love it and I love kids. I know that this is what I am supposed to be doing. Still I have my doubts though. I mean if this is my call shouldn't there be doors opening up? I am learning to trust in God, and give up my control. Find joy in all circumstances. Please give advice if you have any. At this time I am going to keep trucking, and be a teacher's assistant for as long as it takes.

So...

Alright. I had good intentions of posting on here, but it didn't happen. Maybe...Maybe someday when I have cute baby to blog about or a classroom of my own I will blog more. Then again I will have and even more crazy and chaotic life, so probably not. I will try! :)

Things have been busy here. I think I have only been in Stilwell 1 week this whole summer! First we went to Hawaii. My sister in law had a gorgeous wedding. www.lmprophoto.com/client/2010/brittanyandlevi.html <-- This is the link to their wedding pictures and they are gorgeous. If you do go look notice the flower girl's (my niece Candace) hair. I did it myself and I thought it turned out pretty good.

After Hawaii I subbed at Rejoice Christian School so I could get some money to help pay for Great Expectations. It's a week long course on basic teacher education stuff. Really good! I had to pay a lot of money though. I will do just about anything to get a job these days. Not much new on that front either. I'm hoping schools will be more active in hiring during July since school is getting closer. We will see.

We went to a summer conference with our kids called MOVE. It's put on my CIY. I absolutely love them and what they do. God was/is so good. I always love those summer highs where you feel so close to God. Love it. I just have to remember those times come the long winter months when my soul is feeling dry and lonely.

This week we are gearing up for VBS. Yay. Get ready for this we have a grand total of 2 signed up this year. Yeah that wasn't a typo. We really aren't that worried though. We had a lot of kids come the day of to register, so hopefully it will be the same this year.

Summer is going by so fast. In some ways I want it to so I can know whether or not I will have a class next year, but in others not so much. I love my free time.

Opinion time. Some of you are teachers or going to be teachers that read this blog and I would like your opinion...

but I just realized my cobbler is almost done and then we are headed up to church for 4th of July cookout so you'll just have to stay tuned to see what my question is!

Alive

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know that I am still alive! We just got back from an amazing week at MOVE (youth conference). I will post all about it later. I plan on sprucing up the blog a bit with some pictures. I found this one randomly on the computer. It's Jacob holding his sister's dog on his parent's back porch. Rough life! :) I'm just practicing with posting with pics so I hope you enjoyed this random one. More to come hopefully!

Light at the End of the Tunnel

So I have been absent for a very long time. Life just has not been very blog worthy. The end is near. School that is. We have 4 days left!! Still stressing over a job, but trying my best to let it go and trust that God knows best. Someday I will be in the right place at the right time. It is such a hard and painful process. I suppose it could be worse, like actually having a job and then be let go like so many Tulsa teachers have experienced.

Church is chugging along here in Stilwell, OK. We are gearing up for a busy summer! I'm hoping to do some subbing this summer at Rejoice Christian School in Owasso. Just for a few weeks for some extra cash and my own sanity. :) I like to stay busy. We are going to CIY, Know Sweat, Church camp, VBS. We also have a trip to Hawaii for my sister in laws wedding. (8 days away!!) We are also going to Colorado at the end of July for a family reunion. So yeah we are pretty much booked.

That's about it for now.

Stress

Hey everyone,

Sorry it has been so long. Things have been busy, and well, you know how it goes.

Spring break is only a week and half away! I can't wait because I get to go see the most adorable boy, Logan of course!

I am so ready for summer to get here. I am thankful that I have a job that allows me to have a season off to rest. I really can't imagine working all year round. Pathetic I know.

Even though I am ready for summer to be here, I am not ready for the job hunt. Basically, no one is going to be hiring. If they are hiring you are going to have to know someone if you plan on getting that job. So, I am trying not to stress as I think about the coming year. Patience, patience, patience.

Praying for Shaun

Hey everyone!

So just an update on my health. I went to the doctor yesterday and she confirmed that I have a sinus infection. I have never had one in my life so this is a new experience.

Before I went to the doctor my teeth started hurting. I was thinking that I was going to have to go to the dentist. yuck. But when I went to the doctor she asked if my teeth had been hurting and I was like YEAH! I was so relieved. She said it was because my sinuses were putting pressure on the roots of my teeth. Who knew? Anyway, she gave me some antibiotics and today I feel a little better. I am going back to school tomorrow though. I have already used 3 sick days dealing with this junk.

Ok, back to the title of my post. My best friend Shaun Lesser left today for Haiti. She is a labor and delivery nurse and she is going down there to work with a medical clinic. This girl is so brave. I talked to her before she left and she was scared, but she is putting her trust in God. Please pray for her to have strength both mentally and physically. Pray for safety. I know that she is scared of contracting tuberculosis or anything else. She was also worried about the dangerous people that are there. Please pray that she is a light in this dark nation and that she will be able to stay strong even though she will see things that will absolutely break her heart.

Sick Day

Well, it has happened. I finally caught something from those snotty :) kids at school. I think it started out as a cold and has now made its home in my sinuses and ears. Yuck. I love living in a small town too. I called my doctor in Tahlequah and she couldn't get me in today! ___ANGER___

I can't go to the urgent care place either because they do not accept my health insurance. I called my insurance and they said that the nearest urgent care would be in the Tulsa area. BLAH. So I am suffering one more day till I can get some antibiotics.

Needless to say my snow day was not filled with joyous events of frolicking in the snow. I did however take a glorious nap as the snow started to come down pretty heavy on Friday. :)

This week on facebook everybody is posting a celeb that they look like. I have been told I look like Camilla Belle and Vanessa Carlton. I'm not seeing the Camilla Belle, but I think Vanessa is a good match. :) I think it's funny to see what celebs people think they look like. Some are right on and others well i'm thinking really??? :)
