Happy Halloween!

Hey everyone!
Sorry it's been awhile. There is just not a whole lot going on here in my little small town. Work is going pretty good. I am so ready to have my own classroom, but alas God has something else planned for me... at least for now. I am learning so much working in the Literacy Lab and I really do feel that I am going to be so much better off when I do get my own kids.

Jacob is good. We have to do the 5th quarter tonight. Which let me just be honest. I am not looking forward to it. I am so tired! It doesn't get over till 11:50, and then we have to clean up the mess. Yuck.

On a bright note I am super excited, because tomorrow I get to go the OSU/TX game! Yay! I am so ready to go back to Stillwater!

Ministry is the same. Stagnate. We are on the second half of the book, Crazy Love. I just don't think they get it, but I'm hoping that they will surprise me. We shall see.

I find myself in a rut as well. I know the good I ought to do, yet I don't do it. Did I mention that I am a sinner? God is great and I am so undeserving of His love.

Side note... I can't wait to buy a house. I am so tired of white walls.

Really!?

OK, funny story.

It was a crisp fall day. I could hear the sounds of happy children drifting in from the playground. I put on my jacket and headed down the hall to report to recess duty. As I was walking down the hall I saw a sweet young innocent child headed toward me. He was carrying a soccer ball and looked like he was in a hurry. I said, "Hey Braeden!" In a split second the ball was thrown in the air headed right for me. I had my hands in my pockets. A moment of panic. Thinking: can't get hands out fast enough!

Smack! Yep, soccer ball right in the face.

Priceless.

I love first grade. Don't you. :)

The Award

Hey guys guess what... I have been given a blog award! My friend and former youth minister's wife Steph T. gave it to me! Thanks Steph, I'm not quite sure I deserve it though since my blogs are quite random and spread out. :)

So here it is...

I'm supposed to tell you 7 things you may not know about me. So here goes...

1. I love the color orange. Always have always will. When all the other girls asked for pink and purple. I would say, "Do you have an orange one?"

2. I really want to get a weenie dog. They are so cute.

3. I am so blind it is not even funny. Thank you God for contacts. I hate glasses. I need to see out of my peripherals thank you.

4. Dimples are the way to my heart. Thats how I fell in love with my husband, and how he gets his way most of the time. Let's hope our children don't get them. Then I'll really be in trouble. :)

5. I have the cutest nephew ever. (See picture above. Sorry I'm new to this picture in the blog thing.)

6. I love to read. I love getting lost in a book. You know the ones that are so good you can't wait to get home and read them.

7. I'm a city girl. Give me a big hotel room, fluffy pillow, shopping, and eating out. That's my my kind of vacation.

Alright so now I am supposed to give this award to 7 other wonderful people, but frankly I am about to pass out right now. So tired. So I'll get to this in another post.

Thanks for reading!

Saturday!

Well, it's been a rough week at school.  I am so thankful that it is Saturday. Today in few hours I am getting together with some of my friends from high school. I love them all so much and I am so excited to just sit around, eat, and talk. Our lives have become so hectic. It's nice to know that we can all just sit and chill with each other... even if it is only for a few hours.

Now time for a side story...

This week in the cafeteria a first grade boy casually strolled up to me patted my belly and said. "Hey fatty." Yeah, I was shocked, but not enough to let him get away with it. I swung him back around and laid into him. Kids... they are crazy. It made me laugh.

I currently have love hate relationship with my job. The love side is winning right now though.

Church is ... good. We are still working our way through the Crazy Love series. No one is reading it in our youth small group, but us. So it makes for a really great and meaningful small group time... NOT. So discouraging. I'm really disappointed in some of our students right now that said they were going to step up this year and be leaders, blah, blah, blah. All talk. No action. I guess that is the usual cycle though. Summer= spiritual high. Fall=?

Well enough venting! Happy October. This is the perfect month for me since orange is my favorite color.

Pinky Promise

Ok, so I have a favorite. I admit it. He is a first grader that is absolutely adorable. Well almost everyday at recess he comes up to me and fills me in on his life. This was today's story...

Me: Ok, let me get this straight. You live in a shack, that you made out of steel, that is by the sea, in which you found a pirate ship by going down a secret path, were you discovered a pirate who owns a cheeta, who was protecting a ninja sword. Did I get that right?

Him: Yes.

Pinky Promise :)

Gotta love the little compulsive liar.

I love Fall!

Don't you just love this time of the year! I once heard someone say that whatever season is next is their favorite. I like that and think that it is so true. Fall is my all time favorite though. I love the smells, the colors, the weather, plus my birthday falls during this season.

This weekend we are heading to Tulsa. I am going to a women's conference Friday and Saturday with my mother and sisters in law. I'm hoping while I'm in Tulsa I will get a chance to see one of my bestest friends Shaun. I always feel so crunched for time when I am in Tulsa. I really wish I could live closer, but in the grand scheme of things I guess I am pretty close! :)

My birtday is Sunday. I am hoping to go out to eat at Chili's. I love Chili's skillet queso and salsa. Yum!!

School is going good. I am trying not to have favorites, but some of them are just too darn cute. I feel so compeled to just let everyone of them know that I love them and that they are worth loving. It amazes me to see how 3 little words can light up a face. I really wish I could tell them that not only do I love them, Jesus loves them. Thats the part that sucks about working in a public school. You see so many hurt and broken children, yet you cannot fully meet their needs, only God can, and don't you dare speak His name at a public school. Oh my heart breaks. I love kids.

Another thing I am learning about is how much a parents break up can screw up a kid. I mean it really messes them up. So broken, confused, hurt, sad.

Sorry this is such a depressing post. It's just on my heart right now. Love God, Love others! (even the littlest ones!)

Love, Jen
